2. Adaptations & Optimization
To enable smooth rendering across web and mobile viewports, the original BodyParts3D 4.0 geometry was adapted under the permissions of CC BY 4.0:
- Coordinate & Unit Conversion: Transformed from millimeters / Z-up to meters / Y-up, centered and resting on the inspection platform.
- Mesh Simplification: Geometry simplified using
meshoptimizerwith a 0.2% maximum relative error limit per structure. - Normal Quantization: Vertex normals quantized to signed 16-bit integers, conserving GPU memory and network payload.
- Binary Chunking: Packed into 15 compressed binary chunks (~31.4 MB gzipped total) for concurrent streaming.
- Concept Mapping: All 2,234 individual meshes preserved, mapped to 3,432 FMA concept definitions across 15 anatomical systems.
3. Application Software License (MIT)
The 3D interactive viewer engine is ported from Human Atlas under the MIT License. Copyright notices from the original project are preserved.
